How to enrol online

Once you’ve accepted your offer, you’ll need to enrol in Sydney Student to secure your place. You'll be taken through a series of steps where you confirm your details, select your units of study, complete financial information and upload a photo for your student card.

Enrolment is open from11 June to 26July2024, however some courses may have variations to the standard enrolment dates.

Make sure you select 'Submit'

After you've gone through enrolment you need to select 'Submit'. If you don't do this, you haven't technically enrolled and won't be able to start classes. We'll send you an email to confirm that you're enrolled.

Selecting units of study

International students

Make sure you enrol in a full-time study loadto meet the requirements of your visa.

Selecting units is an important part of online enrolment in most courses at the University. Once you’re enrolled, you can access this screen to review or change your units by logging in to Sydney Student and going to ‘My studies’, ‘Units of study’ then ‘Change your units of study’.

Enrolment exception requests

Most units and courses have rules you need to meet when enrolling in units. These ensure you enrol according to your course requirements and can progress successfully through your course.

A pop-up message will display if you make a selection that doesn't meet these rules.

Generally, you won't be eligible for an exception from these rules, and you'll need to make alternative selections.

There are some scenarios where you may be eligible for an exception.

Understanding fees

During enrolment we’ll guide you through a summary of your fees.

If you’re a domestic student eligible for HELP you'll then be asked to fill out the necessary Australian Government HELP forms.

You will also be given information about your Student Services and Amenities Fee (if applicable).

Within 24 hours after you've completed enrolment, your Student Financial Statement will be available in Sydney Student. This shows your exact tuition fees.

Student cards

As well as identifying you as a student at the University, your student card allows you to access campus facilities, borrow from the library, print and photocopy, and gives you access to a wide range of travel and student discounts.

Upload a photo during enrolment so you can have your student card in time for classes.

You'll receive an email with instructions on how to get your card once it's ready.

Get your timetable

Each semester you'll receive a class timetable, which shows the times of all your lectures, tutorials, and labs each week.

If you enrol in your units before timetables are released, you may have the opportunity to enter preferences for your class times, but this step is optional.

Even if you don't enter preferences, don't worry. You'll still be able to adjust your class times after timetables are released. You can make changes up until the end of Week2.

Access your unit of study outlines and log in to Canvas

Each unit you take has a unit of study outline, containing all the specifics you need to know to complete the unit. Access yours right away so you can find out which books, course readers and equipment you need (such as labcoats).

Canvas is the University's online learning platform. Log in to Canvas and familiarise yourself with your unit of study sites.
