Visitation is PM Friday at the funeral home. Douglas Floyd Powell VALDESE Mr. Powell died unexpectedly Tuesday November 23, 2004 at his home. Mr. Powell was born April 29, 1936 in Burke County to Clara Smart Powell Valdese and the late Floyd J.

Powell. Doug was a graduate of High Point College and the Wake Forest University School of Law. He was retired as an attorney with Hatcher, Sitton and Powell law firm of Morganton, but his passion was farming, which he pursued on his Tree Farm, Lake Hickory Farm, LTD. Douglas was a member of Waldensian Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Kiwanis Club International, and the Freedom Boosters Club. Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife Anne Price Powell of the home; two sons, Michael B.

Powell and wife Donna of Hickory, and Clark Douglas Powell of Morganton; a brother, Dr. Kenneth A. Powell and wife Marcia of Rutherford College; two step-daughters, Dara Beach and T'Nell Pridgen both of Morganton; the Also surviving are six and Nelle Swift of mother law. grandchildren, Michael Clark Powell, Christian Aaron Jesko, Sarah and Alex Pridgen, Afton and Lili Johnston. Mr. Talbert was born in Albemarle, NC on July 12, 1968, a son of William West Talbert, III and Gayle Ann Byrd Talbert. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and the Stanly County Shrine Club. He coached t-ball and soccer for the New London Youth League.

Mr. Talbert was active in his church and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a 1986 graduate of Albemarle High School and lettered in football and baseball, and also golf. Mr. Talbert was an avid outdoorsman.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf, and played American Legion Baseball. His family was his pride. and joy. Mr. Talbert was a owner and operator of Reliable Home Improvements.

He was a member of Matton's Grove United Methodist Church in Gold Hill. An Barbara Edmiston Hall HICKORY Mrs. Hall, born March 27, 1936, passed in to the Lord's hands on Tuesday, November 23, 2004. She will be missed by her loving children, grandchildren, mother, brother, sisters-in-law, and all her family and friends.

She fought a long battle with Epilepsy and much too short a battle with Leukemia and Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. There are no words to describe sorrow we feel now but also the ultimate happiness that she is in a better place, free from pain and all sorrow. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John M. Hall, Sr. and her father, Joe F.

Edmiston. She leaves behind in life her three loving children, Susan Hall Coleman and her husband Bob, John M. Hall, Jr. and his wife Kathy, Joel L. Hall and his wife Lee Anne.

She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Christopher J. Hall, Charles J. Bolick and Austin P. Hall. She also leaves behind her loving mother, Dixie Edmiston; her loving brother, and Edmiston sister-in-law, and their Steve children, Sharon Benge and her husP band Dick and their children; Craig Greer Benge, Teresa Beulin and her husband Jim.

Also left behind in life were her two loving sisters-in-law, Janet Pennell and her husband Gene and their son Michael Pennell; Judy Nemeth and her husband John and their daughters, Blye, Elise and Sharyn. Wilkinson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family of Mrs. Holmes. 4 HEATH SPRINGS Mrs. Eva T. Bowers of 262 Cauthen Street, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004 in the Springs Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Mahaffey Funeral Home W. Russell Owens MULLINS Mr. Owens, 50, husband of Kathy Thompson Owens, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, November 26, at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Reverend Darrell Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Reedy Creek Cemetery, directed by Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Russell was born September 7, 1954 in Marion, a son of W. H. Owens, Jr. and Margaret Shelley Owens.

Russell had served as a police officer for City of Marion and was employed with Security Services of America. He was a graduate of Mullins High School. Russell was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church. Surviving Russell in addition to his wife, of the home, are his parents of Mullins; two daughters, Shelley Calhoun and her husband, Jason, of Marion and RoseAnn Hite and her husband, Noel, of St. Paul, granddaughter, Summer Calhoun; a sister, Cheryl Price of Mullins; and a brother, William H.

4 Amanda Michelle Calloway PAGELAND Miss Calloway, 22, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at Sand Lake Hospital, Florida. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 27, at Pageland Presbyterian Church. Amanda was born in Monroe, NC, daughter of Ron Calloway and Claudia Thomas. She enjoyed her family and friends, dancing, cheerleading, and her job. Amanda was preceded in death by her grandmother, Claudia H.

Survivors include her mother, Claudia Thomas of Pageland, SC; father, Ron Calloway of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Brentt Calloway and Bryan Calloway, both of Pageland, SC, and Bradley Calloway of Orlando, FL; and her grandfather, Dr. James M.
