I love the saying around surrounding yourself with people that advocate and fight for you when you're not in the room, and having a leader that you trust will do this. As leaders, we serve our team, not the other way around. There is a parallel process when it comes to safety and feeling seen...when our teams feel poured into, seen, heard, and valued, so will our clients/customers/patients. I know I hold this in my head every day as a leader. At times I am fantastic at it and at others I fall short. I hope more and more leaders will hold this wisdom and try. One of the best books I have read on leadership is Simon Sinek's Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don't https://a.co/d/0eT8EeUkGrateful for my teams!

We can help so many more children if we increase the trauma informed lens we look through.This isn't just for therapy!!!, this trauma lens needs to pierce all the spaces that children occupy and the adults they interact with.Lean in with curiosity before reacting. See "attention seeking" behavior with a reason behind it...in many cases "connection seeking", maybe "survival/protection mode".We can do better.At Caron Outpatient we offer mental health and substance use services for teens.
