How does the daily advent calendar countdown work?

If you’re new here, I post daily updates on each window of the 2023 Star Wars Advent Calendar. I usually post updates in the morning, but sometimes if things get too busy, updates will be posted in the evening. I’ll update this post each day, as I don’t really enjoy the practice of creating new posts for each day as it keeps it so much cleaner, so bookmark this post to come back every day!

Unlike other sites, I’m actually opening each window as I go, and I’ve been able to be relatively spoiler-free to be as surprised as I can get. All reviews, thoughts and reactions are live as we go along, there are no pre-planned photos or thoughts, unless I happen to be travelling or away from home.

Do note that I’m based in Melbourne, Australia (GMT +11) so we’re ahead of most of the world(except New Zealand) so to avoid spoilers, try to come back to this post after you’ve opened your window and built the daily model especially if you’re located in other time zones.

Here’s a look at the 2023 Star Wars Advent Calendar with the front flap opened that serves as a playmat to display all the models and minifigures.

It looks to be an Endor-themed year, with an Ewok Village in the background, and a Shield Generator lit up by Christmas lights. It makes sense as Return of the Jedi celebrates its 40th anniversary this year!

You count upwards from 1 to 24, so don’t make the mistake of going backwards!

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (4)

As always, the instructions are found on the inside of each window flap, so be gentle when opening them as you’ll need to sometimes refer to them for slightly more complicated builds!

Without wasting any time, let’s get started with the 2023 Star Wars Advent Calendar countdown!

Day 1

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (5)

We start of Day 1 with a very peculiar character, Omega from Star Wars: The Bad Batch, a Disney+ animated series that’s a spin-off of the Clone Wars. It’s a very unorthodox minifigure to get on Day One, as Omega might not be completely familiar to casual Star Wars fans, especially those that don’t religiously follow the series.

Omega is an unmodified enhanced clone of Jango Fett, and you can learn more about her on Wookiepedia.

For fans of The Bad Batch, Omega is an excellent character to get, as this minifigure was previously only available in 75323 The Justifier, a pretty large and expensive set, so this is a fantastic way to get your hands on an Omega minifigure if she’s on your list.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (6)

Here’s a look at Omega’s back printing, and alternate face which has a cautious, angry expression.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (7)

To suit the snowy theme of the Advent Calendar, she also comes with a brick-built. This is quite new as LEGO doesn’t usually include builds with minifigures in Advent Calendars, so to get a substantial build like this sled is quite a unique experience.

It’s a bit of fun and gives something for Omega to sit in, and establishes that this will hopefully be a fun Advent Calendar that doesn’t take itself so easily.

That’s it for Day 1! Check back tomorrow to see what we get for Day 2 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar!

Day 2

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (8)

On Day 2 we get a micro ship – The Justifier, a Starship owned by infamous Bounty Hunter Cad Bane. The shape of the ship looks a little odd, and it wasn’t until I attached the large tail and the upturned wings that I realised what it was, so this might confuse those that aren’t mega Star Wars fans.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (9)

The silhouette is pretty good, and the large tail, and manta-ray shape does its signature silhouette justice.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (10)
LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (11)

The instructions are quite poor, so I’ve included these two build-in-progress shots to illustrate just how the ship is built – hope this helps if you get stuck!

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (12)

It’s based on the larger 75323 The Justifier set, which also included the Omega minifigure, so this is quite fitting.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (13)

And that’s it for Day 2 so far! A very fitting build to go with Day 1’s Omega, and I can’t wait to see what we get in Day 3! Hopefully something immediately recognisable, especially for casual Star Wars fans!

Day 3

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (14)

It looks like we’re moving on from The Bad Batch, and moving on to The Mandalorian. Day 3 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar gives us another excellent build – The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter, a repurposed Naboo N-1 Starfighter that Din Djarin uses after his Razor Crest gets destroyed.

This is the first time the Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter has made an appearance in an Advent Calendar, although we did get a Naboo Starfighter in 2018.

This model captures the N-1 Starfighter’s features, silhouette and proportions well, and I like the details like the co*ckpit and raised dome (where Grogu sits) as well as pops of yellow.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (15)

Here’s a look at the N-1 Starfighter from the back – the trans-blue studs used for the engines are also a nice touch.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (16)
LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (17)

There are currently two LEGO N-1 Starfighters you can get, a Microfighter version, a minifigure-scale version and now you can add this micro version to the collection as well!

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (18)

And that’s it for Day 3 so far! Check in tomorrow to see what Day 4 brings!

Day 4

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (19)

Day 4 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar is a bit of a fun and festive build, with a Christmas Pit Droid! Pit Droids are handy mechanical droids, first seen in The Phantom Menace, but also in The Mandalorian, who assist Peli Motto to put together Din Djarin’s N-1 Starfighter.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (20)

The build is quite clever, as the Pit Droid is assembled out of a mishmash or regular parts, and it also has a Santa Sack to complete the look.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (21)

To jog your memory, here’s what they look like in The Mandalorian.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (22)

And that’s it for Day 4! It’s nice to get a festive Christmas-themed build so early, and especially nice that it’s a festive variant of the adorable Pit Droids.

Check in tomorrow to see what we get for Day 5!

Day 5

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (23)

Day 5 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar will make a lot of Prequel Fans really happy as we get a Clone Turbo Tank!

It’s a catchier name than HAVw A6 Juggernaut, and these heavy-duty tanks were primarily used as troop transports during the Clone Wars, and were best known for rumbling about the Battlefield over its 10 wheels.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (24)

The model is basic but instantly recognisable and I do like that this micro-scale design captured the sloping sections of the tank and even the turrets.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (25)

LEGO last released a Clone Turbo Tank way back in 2016, and with the Prequels undergoing a bit of a renaissance, I think it’s high time we get a modernised version. Maybe this model is a clue of things to come in 2024?

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (26)

That’s it for Day 5 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! We’re off to a pretty strong start with 5 great builds each day, and I can’t wait to see what we get tomorrow in Day 6!

Day 6

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (27)

On Day 6 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we receive our 2nd minifigure – a 212th Battalion Clone Trooper. The 212th Battalion famously wore Clone Armour with orange markings, and served under General Obi Wan Kenobi, and were led by Commander Cody.

Clone Troopers are especially popular among Prequel fans, and this one made its debut in 75337 AT-TE Walker and is quite valuable on the secondary market, selling for US$8-10, making this great value to get in this advent calendar.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (28)
LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (29)

Here’s a look at the 212th Clone’s back printing and standard clone face (the Clones are all copies of Bounty Hunter Jango Fett).

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (30)

And that’s it for Day 6! A very good minifigure to get, as it was previously only available in a fairly expensive LEGO Star Wars set, and in a Magazine only available in the UK/Europe.

The 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar continues to impress. Check back tomorrow to see what we get in Day 7!

Day 7

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (31)

On Day 7 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get a peculiar-looking build that might trip people up. It’s a Clone Command Station, a miniaturised version of Command Stations which are manned by Commanders!

No this isn’t a Weapons Rack, but it would’ve been nice if it had some weaponry attached to it!

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (32)

Here’s how it looks from behind.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (33)
LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (34)

The set is actually based on 40558 Clone Trooper Command Station which recently retired.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (35)

It’s not the most exciting build, but it’s somewhere for the 212th Clone Trooper to occupy and interact with, so it has some utility to it, but yes, it does seem very Weapons Rack-esque with the design. If only it could holster some blasters or pistols!

If you were stuck today, I hope this helped demystify what Day 7’s build is!

Check back to see what we get in Day 8 tomorrow1

Day 8

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (36)

On Day 8 we get a staple of LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars, the ubiquitous B1 Battle Droid, bumbling and disposable droid grunts employed by the Trade Federation’s Droid Army.

They provide comic relief, and are purely used as cannon fodder to overwhelm the Republic with sheer numbers.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (37)

The Battle Droid comes with a blaster, as well as 2 sets of arms. The arms have slightly different orientations, with the hands in different positions, as well as one being on an angle, so you can switch up the look, as well as use the different hand options to change how they hold objects.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (38)

That’s it for Day 8 so far! Pretty standard to get Battle Droids, so this was inevitable, and on the plus side, we get our first “bad guy” minifigure for the 212th Clone Trooper to use as target practice.

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 9!

Day 9

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (39)

On Day 9 we get a STAP Speeder, an upright speeder designed for the B1 Battle Droid to ride! STAP stands for Single Troop Aerial Platform and is typically piloted by a single Battle Droid for reconnaissance and patrol uses.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (40)

The build is slightly flimsy, so you can easily knock the top off, but for the most part, it’s something quite different and I do like that most of the minifigures in the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar seem to have a companion build for them to ride on, or sit in.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (41)

Here’s what the Battle Droid looks like riding the STAP. It might help to use both the same types of arms so it can properly hold on to the STAP’s handles.

That’s it for Day 9! Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 10!

Day 10

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (42)

The love for the Clone Wars era continues with Day 10 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar as we get a Hailfire-class Tank Droid!

The Hailfire Tank Droid is probably one of the most innovative and striking Droid Tanks employed during the Clone Wars, with the large whirling treaded wheels rumbling on an angle. The design of this micro-model captures the unique look well, with the wheels bent at an angle, as well as the two large missile launchers mounted on the sides.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (43)

This is such a cool design and the LEGO Star Wars Design Team really nailed the look here, from the colours to the clever build and use of elements.

LEGO have produced several versions of the Hailfire Droid, from the first one with 4481 Hailfire Droid 20 years ago in 2003, to 2008’s Hailfire Droid & Spider Droid to the most recent outing with 75085 Hailfire Droid in 2015.

LEGO has a track record of teasing future sets in Advent Calendars, so I think an update is more than overdue and I can’t wait to get a newly refreshed version.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (46)

That’s it for Day 10 so far. Prequel Fans will be delighted with the Hailfire Tank Droid and I too am a big fan of the design. It’s a big plus that it isn’t yet another grey ship or vehicle and so far, I have to say that I’m really enjoying this year’s Star Wars Advent Calendar!

Check back tomorrow to see what we get in Day 11!

Day 11

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (47)

On Day 11 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, the Clone Wars microbuilds continue with another great build – an Armoured Assault Tank, or better known as an AAT! This AAT is in the Separatist Confederacy colours of blue and gray and looks great.

We did get an AAT on Day 1 of the 2014 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, so this is a nice throwback and also demonstrates just how far the designs have come for Advent Calendar builds!

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (48)

The design is much cleaner, with clearly-defined cannons, and I also like the ability of the AAT’s turret to swivel around.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (49)

The instructions on the flap of the Advent Calendar windows are a little lacking, so here’s a look at some of the individual components to give you a better idea of the orientation of bricks, and where some of the smaller elements should go.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (50)

And that’s it for Day 11 so far! We’re almost at the halfway mark, and miraculously, there hasn’t been a single Original Trilogy build or character yet, which is quite surprising!

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 12!

Day 12

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (51)

On Day 12 we get an excellent seasonal Winter build – a Reindeer Gonk Droid! Gonk Droids have become a staple in recent LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars, and we’ve had previous ones dressed as Presents, Santa and more, so this is another fun Christmas-y variant!

The Reindeer Gonk Droid looks suitably blocky with their trademark legs, and utilises droid arms for its antlers, and has a cute little black button nose. You can of course switch this to a trans-red or red stud and make a Rudolph version should you choose!

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (52)

Here’s a look at the Reindeer Gonk Droid from the back.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (53)

With recent Star Wars Advent Calendars, it’s always been a festive treat to build various seasonal Gonk Droids, and this one is very good and also cute! Very pleased with this one, as I’m sure other Gonk Droid afficionados will be too.

Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 13! Can’t believe we’re past the halfway mark already! Where did December go?!

Day 13

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (54)

We enter the second half of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar and it looks like we’re finally heading into the Original Trilogy. Day 13 gives us an Imperial Shuttle, or Lambda-class T-4a shuttle which is best known for ferrying Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine around.

The design is simple yet fantastic, with the long fin, and wings which can fold up or down. One technique I really like is the ability for the nose/co*ckpit that’s lowered at an angle.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (55)
LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (56)

Here’s a look at the Imperial Shuttle from other angles.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (57)

And that’s Day 13 so far! An excellent first foray into Original Trilogy ships, and I’m excited to see what we’ll get tomorrow. Come back and see what we get on Day 14!

Day 14

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (58)

On Day 14 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get our very first Original Trilogy minifigure with Princess Leia Organa in her Endor fatigues. She comes with a blaster pistol, as well as a delicious cookie!

This version of Leia in her Endor fatigues is technically exclusive as she has her hair up, but the torso has previously appeared in 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama, where she has the helmet for the full Endor look.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (59)

Here’s a look at her back printing and her alternate face.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (60)

It’s great to get Princess Leia in a Star Wars Advent Calendar as she’s never appeared in one before, and it’s also refreshing that she’s the first Skywalker we get.

With 2023 being the 40th Anniversary of Return of the Jedi, this inclusion seems extremely fitting given that the Art on the Advent Calendar box heavily features a snowy, Christmasy Endor.

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 15!

Day 15

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (61)

On Day 15 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we continue with our foray into Endor with an adorable micro-scale Ewok Village!

I’d like to think this is a nod to the 10236 Ewok Village set. It’s been years since it retired, and I think it’s time for LEGO to bring back a decent Ewok Village diorama or playset.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (62)

It’s always a pleasure to get microscale locations and I’m quite pleased with Day 15’s Ewok Village, even if it does look quite rough around the edges and basic.

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 16!

Day 16

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (63)

The Endor and Return of the Jedi builds continue with Day 16 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar with a microscale Endor Bunker! The Endor Bunker featured in the pivotal scene of Return of the Jedi and Battle of Endor, as the Rebels (and Ewoks) stormed it to blow up the Shield Generator.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (64)

The shape is quite iconic and immediately recognisable, and is also a nod to 8038 The Battle of Endor from way back in 2009.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (65)

I’m enjoying the Return of the Jedi builds so far and I’m wondering if all we’re going to get till the end are ROTJ builds and characters – which I honestly wouldn’t mind. I do think it’s high time to get another minifigure as so far we’ve only gotten a Battle Droid, Omega, 212th Clone and Leia, so it feels like we’re due another minifigure.

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 17!

Day 17

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (66)

On Day 17 we get another Endor staple with a most excellent AT-ST model! We did get an AT-ST in last year’s Advent Calendar, so am surprised to see another one this year so soon, but I’m not complaining as it looks great!

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (67)

I really like the inclusion of the base for it to pose on, which allows you to position it in a “walking pose”.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (68)

I also really appreciated the design of the head, which is near completely stud-less except for the hatch at the top. The angles are really nice to look at, and the mix of light and dark grey elements for contrast.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (69)

And that’s Day 17 so far! Can I say that it’s quite startling that we haven’t gotten a Weapons Rack yet? Has LEGO finally phased them out? Also that we haven’t really gotten a “bad” build yet. It’s been hit after hit after hit, although we are now way overdue for a minifigure.

Surely we’ll get a minifigure tomorrow! Check back to see what Day 18 brings us!

Day 18

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (70)

On Day 18 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar we get another iconic Endor staple – a Speeder Bike! The design has underdone a bit of a transformation compared to previous entries with really long outriggers (the long things at the front), and curiously, the design lacks any steering vanes.

It’s nice shape, and is far longer than previous ones, but I feel like the lack of the steering vanes at the front is a slight missed opportunity. It’ll be hard to top the 2018 Advent Calendar version, that’s for sure!

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (71)

That’s Day 18 so far! Still no minifigure! I guess this is LEGO saving all the sought-after minifigures for the back end of the calendar. Well we’re a week till Christmas, so they better get here soon!

Come back tomorrow to see what Day 19 brings us!

Day 19

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (72)

We are now firmly in the home stretch of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar and on Day 19, they’re still holding out on us with a minifigure! But don’t let that dissuade you from another excellent Endor microscale model – this time an Endor Shield Generator which is just an iconic structure that we see in Return of the Jedi.

The Rebels have one main objective in ROTJ to blow up the Shield Generator to make the Death Star II vulnerable, and this one is just fantastic with the large radar-like dish, and also some small trees to give the structure a sense of scale.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (73)

This design is so simple, yet so good.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (74)

And that’s it for Day 19! Still firmly in Endor/Return of the Jedi territory, and I don’t think we’re going to stray far from here until the end.

Can you believe it, only 5 days left and less than a week left till Christmas! Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 20!

Day 20

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (75)

Our prayers for a minifigure finally get answered on Day 20 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar!

Christmas, or should I say, Sith-mas has come early thanks to Emperor Palpatine making a grand and festive entrance, complete with his very own ugly Christmas sweater!

It’s been a trend to get characters with ugly Christmas sweaters, and Palpy here is looking extra festive thanks to his red sweater which has the Death Star II and bolts of Sith Lightning knitted to it.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (76)

Here’s a look at his back print and alternate face.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (77)

The inclusion of a red mug and a singular Sith Lightning bolt are really nice accessories. Looks like the Emperor is all ready to shock you with his Christmas presence!

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (78)

Very pleased to get our very first Seasonal Minifigure, and despite Emperor Palpatine’s minifigure being spoiled heavily by the packaging, it still doesn’t detract from a funny and seasonally-appropriate minifigure.

Only 4 more days remain for the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 21!

Day 21

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (79)

The Emperor has a bad back, so for Day 21, he gets some much needed support in the form of the Emperor’s Throne! It’s a pretty basic build, but an an absolutely essential and complementary build to go along with yesterday’s excellent Emperor Palpatine.

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (80)

It would’ve been quite funny if Palps’ comfy lounge chair was made out of festive Christmas colours! At least he can now kick back, enjoy his warm mug of cocoa and start zapping any upstart Jedi who dare challenge the Galactic Empire.

Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 22!

Day 22

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (81)

On Day 22 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we an Imperial Star Destroyer, one of the most iconic capital ships of the Galactic Empire.

This pint-sized Star Destroyer scrores points for an accurate shaping, and I like some fun details like the use of a 2×1 plate for the bridge, but it feels so small and out of place compared to all the other ship builds that we’ve gotten so far.

Here’s the ships so far and it’s quite funny to see the Imperial Star Destroyer so tiny compared to the others. It’s extra ironic because the Imperial Star Destroyer is such a massive ship so the reverse scale here is funny.

It’s odd but this one feels rather disappointing compared to the other stellar builds we’ve gotten. I really wish that this was a larger Executor Super Star Destroyer instead, which would’ve been a great homage to Return of the Jedi.

Our first relative blip of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar!

Only two days remain – check back tomorrow to see what we get on the penultimate window of the advent calendar!

Day 23

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (84)

On Day 23, the penultimate window of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get an Ewok Glider! At this stage of the Advent Calendar, there’s usually not a lot of surprises left, given that this build (and the 24th) have been prominently spoiled on the packaging of the Advent Calendar!

We all probably know what comes next on Day 24, but be sure to come back one last time tomorrow for a wrap and summary of what I thought of the entire Advent Calendar!

Day 24

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (85)

We’re at the final day of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar and as expected, Day 24 gives us a Christmas Ewok! The all-white Ewok has a green cloak with a Christmas Tree stamped on it, which is a nice seasonal nod.

Here’s at a look at the Ewok’s back, and how it combines with yesterday’s Glider to swoop into your Chrisrmas Eve celebrations!

Overall, it’s a cute little seasonal exclusive and I do like that we get 2 seasonal characters in this Advent Calendar. The Christmas Ewok definitely fits the Return of the Jedi/Endor theme and is a nice little conclusion, even if it isn’t a big surprise as its spoiled pretty heavily on the box!

Final Thoughts

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown - Jay's Brick Blog (88)

The LEGO Star Wars design team has delivered yet another memorable Advent Calendar with the 2023 version, and I do really appreciate the variety of eras captured, starting with the new Disney+ shows like Bad Batch, before taking a fun little detour through the Clone Wars and finally finishing off with an Endor extravaganza to commemorate Return of the Jedi’s 40th anniversary this year!

The builds have been mostly phenomenal – with interesting new ships and vehicles, especially from the Clone Wars. I feel like the designs have stepped up a notch, and this has been one of the best years for the microbuilds, save for some blips like the tiny Imperial Star Destroyer.

Unfortunately it looks like the Weapons Racks is no longer a staple of Advent Calendars, which is mostly a a good thing as there isn’t a “wasted slot”, but I do miss the novelty of the designs and how people just rued the days we got them!

While the microbuilds have been mostly great, I think the minifigure lineup is slightly disappointing. We only get 4 minifigures, plus an Ewok and Battle Droid, which feels on the low end of things, even if we do get two seasonal characters with Palpatine and the Ewok,

The 212th Clone Trooper is nice, and so is Leia in her Endor fatigues, but I really think one additional minifigure (Luke) would’ve really tied the entire calendar together. With it being a 40th ROTJ tribute, Luke in his black Jedi Master outfit would’ve been the perfect addition!

All in all, another great year for Star Wars fans. It has been an absolute blast each day and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for following along, for those that’s the first time following this daily countdown, or if you’re returning after discovering this blog in previous years!

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
