Prince Harry's recent snub when visiting London left King Charles "blindsided", a royal expert has claimed.

Harry visited the UK earlier this month to attend a special ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

It had previously been reported that the monarch "was aware" that his youngest son had no base in the UK and offered him a stay at one of the royal residences - which he then turned down in favour of a stay at a hotel in Mayfair "without protection".

After learning that Harry didn't take up the offer, the King is said to have felt "blindsided" over his decision.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward told the Mirror: "When Prince Harry turned down his father's offer to stay at a royal residence during his three-day trip to London in May, it was a surprise to the royal household. The King was aware Harry had no UK base. He could not fail to be aware Harry was unduly anxious about security."

Explaining further about Harry's decision, royal broadcaster Helena Chard recently told Fox News Digital: "He could have stayed at St. James' Palace, a stone's throw away from Clarence House, where the King is usually based. Harry turned down staying in a palace, where he would have received armed security protection from the SO14 Royalty Protection Group. He chose to stay at a hotel in Mayfair without this protection.

"Not only would he have received armed security protection, there is a far higher chance that he would have seen his father. It worries me that Prince Harry has deeper-rooted problems, most likely related to his mother, as I feel his behaviour is beyond strange. I am, however, aware that his behavior keeps the victim narrative alive, a narrative which maybe he feels serves a purpose at this time."

King Charles set to open crazy golf course at one royal palace this summer

Royal fans are in for a treat this summer as King Charles is set to open an 18-hole crazy golf course at his Sandringham Estate, the late Queen Elisabeth's beloved winter home.

The royals traditionally visit the Noforlk estate every December to celebrate the Christmas festivities.

But now from July 1 to September 15, visitors will be able to play a round of golf in a designated area in the estate, with tickets costing £7 for adults and £5 for kids, from 11am to 4pm, the Sun reports.

King Charles will attend Trooping the Colour and make one big change

Trooping the Colour will be taking place in less than three weeks despite the General Elections and King Charles is set to attend the celebrations, according to the latest reports.

Buckingham Palace released a statement on Wednesday evening saying that the Royal Family would have to postpone engagements in the summer "which may appear to divert attention or distract" from the General Election announced by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak earlier in the day.

But according to the Mail, the King's birthday celebrations will be going ahead as planned on Saturday, June 15, with the monarch expected to travel by carriage instead of riding on horseback this year.

Royal insider reveals what Prince Harry is really like on foreign trips

Prince Harry was brutally savaged by a royal photographer who called him out on his "appalling" behaviour towards the Royal Family.

The Duke of Sussex has been estranged from his family ever since he quit his royal duties and moved across the pond with wife Meghan Markle.

The royal couple have made a series of claims against the royals by giving interviews, starring in their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan and through the duke's memoir, Spare.

Now the Sun's royal photographer Arthur Edwards claimed that the monarch was "very upset" with his son's decision to publish a book about his life within the Firm.

'Why are they here?' How Nigerians really reacted to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's trip

A royal commentator has opened up about how Nigerians really reacted to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's recent trip to the country.

The Mirror's royal editor, Russell Myers, has given us an insight into how the actual people of Nigeria felt for the royal couple's visit to the West African nation.

He told this week’s edition of True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat: "The Nigerian press that I'd looked at at the time - it wasn't landing and there were a lot of people saying.

"'Well, why are they here? What does this mean for us? Is it just two people coming for the show?'

"I think then you ask yourself, 'Why are they there? Was it for Invictus? Or was the Invictus message lost a little bit?'"

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set for 'next overseas trip' after 'reaching A-list status'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to capitalise on their new "A-list" status with another overseas visit, a royal commentator claims.

The Sussexes completed a three-day tour of Nigeria earlier this month to promote the Invictus Games, a charity for the aid the rehabilitation of wounded and sick servicemembers and vets co-founded by the Prince.

The couple were lauded for championing mental health awareness during the visit which some royal watchers acknowledged as a win for the Sussex brand.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said their visit to the Commonwealth country had finally elevated the pair into the "A-lister bracket".

Queen Camilla sends secret message to King Charles and Kate at Chelsea Flower Show

Queen Camilla's choice of flowers during her recent appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show had a secret meaning behind it, a flower expert has claimed.

King Charles's wife joined her husband at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show on Monday.

The royal couple visited a garden based on the Penelope Featherington character from the hit Netflix Regency-era show and they both received a badge from children from Sulivan Primary School in London who helped design the garden - with Charles being given a "King of the Compost" one and Camilla receiving a badge which called her "Queen of the Bees".

During a touching moment, the Queen, who looked stunning in a blue ensemble, presented the children with a bouquet of camellias to permit the royal couple's entry into the garden.

King Charles should have 'swallowed his pride' and attended Prince Harry Invictus service

King Charles "missed a trick" by not attending Prince Harry's Invictus Games service on May 8 even though he was otherwise engaged, according to a royal expert.

Harry's camp claimed that he had extended invites to the 10th anniversary celebration to other senior royals but none of them were present on the day.

The King was hosting the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace just a few miles away, while Prince William was at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.

But Chris Ship, ITV's royal editor, felt that His Majesty should still have made an appearance as he told True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat: "The King, in my view, missed a trick by not going to that event at St Paul's Cathedral. Harry was here in the UK.

Prince Harry's 'hissy fit' over UK trip rubbished as Duke's 'absurd logic' picked apart

Prince Harry has been slammed by a royal expert for "throwing a hissy fit" during his recent visit to the UK, during which he snubbed King Charles over security concerns.

The Duke recently made a fleeting visit to London for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, which he co-founded, and rumours quickly began swirling over whether he would reunite with his father and other members of the Royal Family.

These were put to bed after a spokesperson revealed the two would not be able to meet due to scheduling conflicts but stressed that Prince Harry would be open to a future meeting.

Prince Harry statement that made King Charles 'furious' deleted from royal website

A statement made by Prince Harry against the British media about his wife, Meghan Markle, appears to have been taken down from the Royal Family's official website.

The statement, released by Kensington Palace in 2016 when the couple announced their relationship to the public, was the one which left King Charles and Prince William "furious" as it made them "look bad" for not defending their wives the same way, according to Prince Harry's memoir Spare.

The Duke of Sussex condemned the press for subjecting his then-girlfriend, Meghan Markle, to a "wave of abuse and harassment".

Reason Royal Family have had to cancel engagements in response to general election

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak surprised Westminster yesterday when he announced that a general election will be held on July 4.

Announcing the election to the nation, Mr Sunak said he spoke with King Charles earlier in the day to request the dissolution of Parliament - when business in both Houses comes to an end.

He added: "The King has granted this request and we will have a General Election on July 4."

Charles, who is undergoing treatment for cancer, returned to public-facing engagements in April and has a number lined up, including the D-Day 80th anniversary commemorations in June.
