Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures. These Are the 7 Most Embarrassing Things I’ve Had to Do at Disney World (2024)

We go to Disney World every day, but let’s just say that it doesn’t mean that all our Disney days are perfect.

Yes, we could argue that any day in Disney World is a perfect day, but there are times when we’ve utterly humiliated ourselves and had to pick ourselves up off the floor (at times, literally) to recover. Look — it happens to everyone, so we’re sharing some of our most embarrassing Disney World moments with you.

The wet pants dilemma

Okay, it is INEVITABLE that you’re going to end up sitting in a west spot in Pirates of the Caribbean, and it’s always going to make you look like you had an accident on the ride. Or at least it always happens to us. So you might find us in the nearest bathroom trying to dry the back of our pants off with a hand dryer.

Hey, you do what you gotta’ do. There’s really no way to avoid this unless you travel with a towel and wipe the seat down before stepping in. But you might just get wet ON the ride itself, so the only thing you can do is give up your dignity and just live with it (or bring an extra pair of pants).

The bird poop incident

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has ANIMALS, and although that’s part of its appeal, it can also be a drawback. That’s especially true if one of those animals is a bird in the aviary who decides to poop on you without you even knowing (they’re stealth poopers). So you go through half the day without even realizing it and don’t even know there’s something on your jacket until you finally look at some of your PhotoPass photos.

This really happened. The worst part? NO one said anything, not even the PhotoPass photographers. So what can you do? Well, you can laugh at those photos and then grab the wipes you always keep in your day bag and clean the poop off.

Fixing our feet

Disney World is HARD on the feet. This is something we can all agree on. Some of us have problems with our feet, so we bring a lacrosse ball to roll them out. So if you see someone sitting on the curb on Main Street, U.S.A. taking off their shoes, we’re just rolling our feet because we still have many more park miles to walk.

Actually, this is a very good tip for those of you who do have problems with your feet. For some, wearing comfy shoes alone isn’t enough. Doing a few foot exercises like this could help a lot!

Snatching the wig off

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is so much fun, mostly because it’s the one time that adults can wear full costumes in the parks. But those parties are also in Florida and especially earlier in the year (like August), it can get HOT. If you’re wearing a wig with a costume, you’ll want to just snatch it off while standing in line, and who cares who’s watching? Been there, done that.

So here’s what we suggest: You want to really think about your Halloween costume in Disney World. It may look AWESOME, but will it make you miserable in the Florida heat? You might just want to re-think the costume, leave the wig at home, or just not wear a costume at all and opt for a cute Halloween tank top and shorts.

The skirt problem

Because it gets so hot in Disney World, we often wear skirts, but that can create a lot of embarrassing moments. One time, our skirt got caught under our backpack and we flashed the people standing behind us.

Then there’s trying to get out of rides, especially ones that sit low, like Space Mountain. But we have a solution for that. Wearing bike shorts or slip shorts under your skirts keeps you from major embarrassment when that happens. You can also opt for a skirt that has built-in shorts.

Needing Kleenex…again

We won’t lie. Even though we go to Disney World a lot, we are going to cry EVERY TIME we walk down Main Street, U.S.A. and see Cinderella Castle. We aren’t just tearing up, though. We are ugly crying. Embarrassing? Maybe.

That’s why we always pack tissues and make sure our makeup is set well so all that crying doesn’t ruin our photos. This won’t be the only time we cry in Disney World either.

Faceplant onto Main Street, U.S.A.

We all know the trolley tracks run down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. However, we are going to trip over them at least once each trip. Maybe it’s because we’re distracted looking at the Castle (and crying), or maybe we’re just clumsy, but there has been an incident where we quite literally tripped and then fell face first.

That’s embarrassing for sure, and we’re lucky the only thing hurt was our pride. But if you do something like this and end up getting injured, just reach out to a Cast Member or head straight to First Aid Services in each park.

So, yes, even we have embarrassing moments in Magic Kingdom. Mostly, you can just laugh it off and save it for a funny story to tell people about later (sort of like what we just did).
