All American fans were left in tears following the show's emotional farewell scenes to actor Kamar de los Reyes following his death from cancer aged 56.

The star, who joined the CW series in Season 4 as the beloved football Coach Montes, passed away last December.

He appeared in the Season 6 premiere of the long-running CW series, but was not able to film more before his death.

And on Monday's episode 10, it was revealed that his character was not killed off the series. Instead, he took a job with the NFL - with his exitexplained during a phone call between Cody Christian's Asher Adams and Coach Montes.

At the end, the episode also featured a tribute card 'in loving memory' of the actor which left fans sobbing over the star's loss.

One fan wrote: 'The way this episode ended broke me so bad. I’m so emotional. Cody Christian didn’t even have to act for that scene, all those emotions were real. Rest in perfect peace Kamar De Los Reyes!'

Another wrote: 'Asher's monologue has me in tears. When he said, "I know you're going to a better place," I heard the pain in his voice because Cody, as well as the rest of the cast and crew, lost a coworker and friend. Gone but not forgotten. R.I.P Kamar De Los Reyes.'

A third typed: 'A remarkable tribute and very emotional scene.'

Another wrote: 'This scene had me bawling. @ReallyCody did an incredible job. This was a beautiful and emotional send-off for Kamar De Los Reyes.'

All American is currently in its sixth season with five episodes remaining. The series was recently renewed for Season 7.

de Los Reyes - best known for his work on ABC soap opera One Life To Live - died in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve after a brief battle with cancer.

Last month General Hospital actor Michael Easton revealed that he held his friend's hand until his final moment on Earth.

Easton, 57, shared those personal details during the Daytime Stands Up: A Benefit for Stand Up to Cancer - We All Have a Story livestream.

The actor said his longtime friend was with those who loved him most at the time of his passing.

'I was holding his hand when he passed, and he was surrounded by family and friends,' he explained.

'There was so much love around him. I mean, he touched so many lives.'

'He loved being an actor and he was a great actor.'

'His love and commitment to his craft meant that De Los Reyes continued working throughout his illness, showing up on the set of All American, 'two weeks before his death. He was fierce to the end,' Easton said.

'He never talked about being sick. Even though the odds were stacked from the very beginning, and it’s still really hard for me to talk about, but I was in awe of his strength and his resolve. I would’ve shut down long before he did.'

The late actor's family has not disclosed what type of cancer claimed his life.

De Los Reyes was married to Good Trouble star Sherri Saum, 49. The couple shared twin sons Michael and John, 10. The actor was also dad to son Cayden, 26, from a previous relationship.

The Hollywood community turned out to support the family as they bid farewell to their beloved husband and father.

'People stretched out all the way outside,' he said of the attendance at the memorial. 'People showed [who] hadn’t seen him in 20 years. That was the effect. So many of the One Life to Live cast members came and [the] cast from All American' turned out as well.'

He first began his signature role as Antonio Vega on One Life To Live in 1995.

His character was a former gang member who had unjustly served time in prison for a murder which had been done in self-defense.

Kamar would go on to leave the daytime drama series in 1998 but would return two years later in 2000.

He ultimately would remain on the program - with his character evolving into a lawyer and then a cop - until 2013 when it met its demise.

In addition to his work on the ABC soap, video gamers may best know Kamar as the voice to villain Raul Menendez in the Call Of Duty videogames.

His character was a Nicaraguan arms dealer and terrorist who had an extreme hatred for America.

He portrayed him across several different games including 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II, 2018’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, 2019’s Call of Duty: Mobile and 2021’s Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Another one of his signature roles was in Fox series Sleepy Hollow as he portrayed Jobe in the fourth and final season in 2017.

Kamar also starred as Watergate burglar Eugenio Martinez in Nixon (1995) directed by Oliver Stone and also was featured as Tomas in Lisa France's Love & Suicide (2005).

He was also featured on ABC series The Rookie in 2021 where he played detective Ryan Caradine over five episodes.
